The Beach Party, Time to Get Your Toes Wet.

Living just 30 miles from Ocean City MD. and performing at the castle in the sand hotel all summer long, I'm quite familiar with "the beach party"! And it's certainly one of the most popular!

And even if you don't live near a beach, you can still have a cool beach party in your own back yard.

Invitation

Put a couple tablespoons of sand in a 16 ounce plastic water bottle. [not to much because of weight].

Pick up tiny cocktail unbrellas, beach name tags, and small sea shells from the local party supply or orientialtrading.com. Add to bottle.

Put your invitation on a piece of blue paper. Roll paper small enough to fit into water bottle. Add fish stickers to the outside to seal paper. Put the beach name tags on the bottle with mailing adress. It should only cost about $.50 each to mail them.

Beach Party Activities & Games

  • Of course if you have a pool, or live near the ocean, great. Even if you don't, you probably have a hose. There are plenty of water games such as slip and slide, waterguns, ect.

Bubble Recipe

  • This recipe makes great bubbles. In a 5 gallon bucket, [If you're having several guest you might want to make 2 or 3 buckets] add 40 cups of water, 4 cups of dawn ultra [blue], 15 tablespoons glycerine [found in the first aid section of the drug store]. Stir gently.

Buy giant bubble wands at the dollar store. Bubble solution works best if made a few days in advance. These bubbles are a huge hit at any party!

  • Get sand buckets and paint pens and let everyone put their name on a bucket. Use the bucket as a goodie bag.

  • Give everyone a frissbee to play with and to take home. If you have a big enough yard, you can have some kites on hand.

  • A great "main event" for any party is "Hat Party in a Box" Check out the beach themed hats by clicking on the banner.

  • Pick up some face and body paints from the craft store. Let the kids turn their knees into funny faces, paint jewelry, paint funny socks on their ankles, paint bandaids on the usual areas. Paint sharks or dolphins on arms and legs. Let your imagination run wild.

  • Set out beach towels in yard for the kids to sit on while they eat or take a break. Use white styrafoam cups for the drinks and give the guests magic markers to write their names on their cups and draw a beach picture on it.
Food

Cook on the grill. Hamburgers and hotdogs, potato chips, baked beans, cake and ice cream. For drinks serve lemonade, iced tea, bottle water and sodas.
